Helper Heroes

A spoken question sets a small scene, such as feeling ill or a fire, and your child taps one of two pictured answers. Questions move from who helps, to the tools helpers use, to the places they usually work and small ways a child can help too. A first miss brings a short explanation and another try.

Every game is free for every family until 20 November 2026. No card, no payment.

What it practises

  • Name helpers such as doctors, farmers, vets and teachers
  • Match helpers with tools like a stethoscope or a hose
  • Choose where helpers usually work
  • Pick kind actions, like binning rubbish or waving to new neighbours

How the levels grow

  1. Seed Level 1
  2. Sprout Level 2
  3. Bloom Level 3
  4. Flourish Level 4
  5. Shine Level 5

Both age bands get the same questions; the level decides which bank is used. Level 1 asks who helps: a doctor when you are ill, a firefighter, a teacher, a farmer, someone who delivers letters, a dentist and a vet. Level 2 matches helpers with tools, such as a stethoscope, a hose, a tractor and a hammer. Level 3 asks where helpers usually work, how a child can help the street cleaner or new neighbours, and who can grow up to be any helper. Levels 4–5 reuse the level 3 bank. Levels 1–3 give five questions; levels 4–5 give six.

Ages 2–4 play on the Pre-Nursery path and ages 4–6 on the Kindergarten path. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.

What you might notice

  • Does your child name a helper they have met, such as a doctor or teacher?
  • Do they talk about what a helper's tool is for?
  • What do they say when asked who can grow up to be any helper?

Try it at home

On your next walk or trip to the shops, look together for one helper at work, such as a street sweeper, a bus driver or a shopkeeper. At home, draw the helper and one tool they use, and talk about how your family could say thank you.

Not in this game: The game does not practise emergency phone numbers or what to do if your child gets lost.
