Ready for School Routines

Goal: Manage their own things and routines: packing a bag, looking after belongings, getting ready on time.

For parents: Independence at home is the best preparation for a busy classroom. Let your child do it slowly now so they can do it quickly later.

Do together

  1. Bag checklist

You need: A picture checklist: books, pencil case, water bottle, lunch box

Every evening your child packs their bag using the checklist and ticks each item.

  2. Morning race

You need: A picture routine: wash, dress, eat, shoes

Follow the routine without reminders. Can you finish before the timer?

  3. Lost and found

    You need: Labels, a marker

Label everything with your child's name. Practise opening their lunch box and bottle on their own.
