Day & Night

Your child hears a short question about the sky or the day, such as what lights up the day sky or what we put on before bed, and taps one of two pictured answers. Later questions bring in evening, night-time animals and the moon, which the game says can sometimes be seen in the daytime.

How the levels grow

Both age bands get the same questions; the level decides which bank is used. Level 1 matches the sun to the day sky, the moon and stars to the night sky, and routines such as breakfast and pyjamas. Level 2 is about the in-between: the sky getting darker, streetlights coming on, shadows on sunny days and roosters in the morning. Level 3 covers day and night taking turns, owls, bats and bees, the moon in the daytime, sunset and the sun seeming to climb the sky. Levels 4–5 reuse the level 3 bank. Levels 1–3 give five questions; levels 4–5 give six.

Ages 2–4 play on the Pre-Nursery path and ages 4–6 on the Kindergarten path. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.

What you might notice

Does your child talk about your own family's morning or bedtime routine?
Are they surprised that the moon can sometimes be seen in the daytime?

Try it at home

Over one day, look out of the same window with your child three times: morning, afternoon and evening. Each time, talk about how light it is and what you can see in the sky, without looking straight at the sun. Draw the three views in a strip of three boxes.
