Helpers and Caring

Goal: Name people who help us and do small jobs that help at home and look after the world.

For parents: Children love real jobs. Giving them a small, regular task builds independence and the feeling of being useful.

Do together

  1. Pretend play

    You need: Household things as props

    Play doctor, shopkeeper, teacher or cook. Swap roles. Talk about what each helper does and how they help us.

  2. My job chart

    You need: Paper, stickers or ticks

    Pick two small daily jobs: put shoes away, set out the spoons, water a plant. A tick or sticker each day.

  3. Tidy-up and recycle

    You need: Two boxes

    One box for paper and one for plastic bottles. After tidying, sort the recycling together and talk about why we don't throw rubbish on the ground.

  • Who helps us when we are ill?
  • How can you help at home?
  • How can we look after plants and animals?
