Feelings and Friends

Goal: Name more feelings, use one way to calm down, and play fairly with others.

For parents: Calming down is a skill that must be practised when calm. Try the breathing before it is needed.

Do together

  1. Feelings cards

    You need: Paper, crayons

Draw faces for happy, sad, angry, scared, excited and worried. At bedtime, pick the card for how today felt and talk about why.

  2. Flower and candle breathing

    You need: Nothing

Smell the flower (breathe in slowly through the nose), blow out the candle (breathe out through the mouth). Five times.

  3. Kindness jar

You need: A jar, buttons or beans

Add a button whenever someone in the family does something kind. When the jar is full, do something fun together.

Talk about it
