Weather Watch

Your child hears a question about weather and taps an answer shown as a picture or short label. Some scenes show a change after a prediction. Later rounds include a row of weather symbols to compare. The examples are supplied by the game, rather than taken from your local weather.

What it practises

How the levels grow

  1. Seed Level 1
  2. Sprout Level 2
  3. Bloom Level 3
  4. Flourish Level 4
  5. Shine Level 5

Both age bands follow the same content selection, and each level draws from its own bank. Level 1 includes recognising rain, sunshine, snow and wind, plus weather-related items. Level 2 moves to possible changes, a forecast question and a rain-to-puddle scene. Level 3 includes comparing weather symbols in small charts and a puddle-drying scene, alongside other weather questions. Levels 4–5 reuse the level 3 bank. The first three levels select five scenarios each; levels 4–5 select six. These are game examples, with no live forecast connection.

Ages 2–4 play on the Pre-Nursery path and ages 4–6 on the Kindergarten path. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.

What you might notice

  • Does your child count chart symbols before comparing them?
  • Do they use may or might when discussing a prediction?

Try it at home

From a safe indoor place, talk about rain or moving leaves you can see, without looking straight at the sun. Draw one weather symbol together on paper. Add another observation later and describe any difference without needing a particular weather event to happen.

Not in this game: The game does not provide local forecasts or practise making real weather measurements.
