Add & Take Away
Pictures show two groups to join, or one group with some pictures faded to show taking away. Your child hears the question and taps a number for the answer. A number sentence appears alongside the pictures, so you can connect the spoken action with its written signs.
Every game is free for every family until 20 November 2026. No card, no payment.
What it practises
- Combine two pictured quantities
- Count what remains after some pictures are taken away
- Match an addition or subtraction result to a numeral
How the levels grow
- Seed Level 1
- Sprout Level 2
- Bloom Level 3
- Flourish Level 4
- Shine Level 5
For ages 4–6, level 1 uses addition only, with totals no greater than four. Levels 2–5 mix addition and subtraction, with limits of five, eight, nine and ten. In addition rounds, that limit applies to the total; in subtraction rounds, it applies to the starting amount. The generated sums use positive parts, and subtraction leaves at least one. Every level gives three answer choices and five rounds, with pictures available throughout.
This game is on the Kindergarten path, for ages 4–6. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.
What you might notice
- Does your child count both groups when adding?
- When taking away, do they leave out the faded pictures?
Try it at home
Put four whole socks on a surface. Move one away and ask how many remain. Count the ones still there together, then bring the sock back and count the whole group. Write a number sentence only if it helps your older child discuss the action.
Not in this game: The game does not practise subtraction with zero or negative results.
