Shape Builder

A small model shows the picture to build, while a larger version has empty outlined spaces. Your child chooses coloured shape pieces and drags each into its place. The loose tray can also include shapes that are not needed. You can compare the model, piece and outline together.

How the levels grow

Both bands build pictures with three required pieces from the same scene bank. For ages 2–4, levels 1–2 have no spare pieces, levels 3–4 add one, and level 5 adds two. For ages 4–6, the spare-piece count rises from zero to four across levels 1–5. Spare shapes do not belong in any space. Both bands play two picture rounds at levels 1–3 and three at levels 4–5. The model and outlined spaces remain part of the activity.

Ages 2–4 play on the Pre-Nursery path and ages 4–6 on the Kindergarten path. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.

What you might notice

Does your child compare the piece with an empty outline?
Do they notice that some pieces are not needed?

Try it at home

Draw a simple house with a square body and triangular roof. Beside it, draw the same two shapes separately. Ask your child to point from each shape to its place in the house, or help you draw another house using those parts.

Not in this game: The game does not practise freely designing a new picture or rotating loose pieces.
