Time and Days

Goal: Order the parts of the day and the days of the week, and read o'clock times.

For parents: Time is abstract. Tie it to your child's own routine: 'We eat lunch at 1 o'clock', 'On Friday we visit Nani'.

Do together

  1. My day in pictures

    You need: Paper, crayons

Draw four things you do each day: wake up, school, lunch, sleep. Put them in order and say 'morning, afternoon, evening, night'.

  2. Paper plate clock

You need: A paper plate, card for the hands, a split pin

Write the numbers 1–12. Make it 7 o'clock, 3 o'clock. Say where the long hand points for every o'clock (straight up to 12).

  3. Days of the week song

    You need: A calendar

Sing the days every morning and point to today. What day was yesterday? What day is tomorrow?

Talk about it

  • What do we do in the morning?
  • What day comes after Tuesday?
  • What time do you go to bed?
