Do: Contents page hunt. Look at the contents page. Pick a topic, find its page number, and turn to it. Read one fact together.
You need: An information book about animals, space or the body
Talk: Where would you look to find out about teeth in this book?

Writing & pencil control
Do: Send an update. If your plan changes, write one short update telling the reader the new place or time. If it stays the same, write a welcome sign for the display instead. Give or show the writing to the person who will use it.
You need: Scrap paper and a pencil

Do: Boxes needed. Put 5 in each cup. How many cups do we need? Now 4 in each cup. Did we need more or fewer cups?

Do: A little map. Draw a pretend neighbourhood with a home, shop and park. Add paths and a simple symbol for each place. Explain that a map shows where places are. Your child traces a route with a finger and describes what is beside the path.

Do: Tell what changed. Draw before and after pictures of your pretend mishap. Your child describes what happened, who was affected and the repair they offered. Explain that someone may still feel upset after a repair. Choose where to place the cups safely next time.

Moving & making
Do: Direct two sounds together. Point to one sign to invite its musician to play. Show both signs to combine two gentle sounds while you speak a helper's line. Lower a sign to stop that part. Swap director and performer. Discuss whether quieter playing helped the words remain clear.
