Reading & talking
Do: Real or made up? Compare a clearly made-up story with an information book. Read enough together to discuss each book's purpose. Explain that stories can also describe real events, so pictures or a cover alone do not prove whether something is invented.
You need: A few story books and a few fact books

Do: Check the common words. Read the invitation together. Choose one common word your child used, such as the or you. Help them check its spelling. Then let the intended reader find the activity, place and time. Add a missing detail only if needed.

Do: Fair share. Share the objects equally between the plates, one at a time: one for you, one for you… How many on each plate? Is it fair?
You need: 12 small objects, 2, 3 or 4 plates

Science & our world
Do: Places and people. Draw two nearby places your child knows, such as a shop and a clinic. Ask what people do there and who helps. Talk about a helper's work without assuming their gender. You can add a place your family visits further away.

Thinking & feelings
Do: A kind response. Draw a character saying, "Your favourite is silly." Ask how the listener might feel. Together replace the words with a kind reply that still allows a different preference. Act it out. Changing an unkind reply need not mean changing the opinion.

Moving & making
Do: Choose a simple path. An adult draws a broad line and makes four widely spaced holes along it. Count and follow the holes with a finger. The adult threads the blunt needle if used. Alternatively, prepare a narrow folded paper strip that fits easily through the holes.
You need: Prepared card, short wool and blunt needle, or paper strips
