Do: Sign spotting. Read every sign you can: Push, Pull, Exit, Open, Closed, Stop, Toilets. What does each sign tell people to do?

Writing & pencil control

Write an Invitation
Week 1 of about 3

Do: Give the useful details. Plan a small display of drawings for someone at home. Agree where and when, perhaps at the table after lunch today. Your child writes one or two sentences inviting the reader. Help include the activity, place and time without adding a long story.

Equal Groups (Multiplication)

Do: Egg-box arrays. Look at the rows and columns: 2 rows of 6, or 6 columns of 2. Both make 12.

Science & our world

Sound and Hearing
Week 3 of about 3

Do: Sound map. Sit with an adult in a safe spot outside or by a window. Draw yourself in the middle and mark sounds in the direction they seem to come from. Discuss which sound sources you can actually see. A loud sound is not always near.

Thinking & feelings

Put a Small Mishap Right
Revisit, or choose your next unit

Do: Tell what changed. Draw before and after pictures of your pretend mishap. Your child describes what happened, who was affected and the repair they offered. Explain that someone may still feel upset after a repair. Choose where to place the cups safely next time.

You need: Paper and crayons

Moving & making

Our Neighbourhood Sound Team
Revisit, or choose your next unit

Do: Direct two sounds together. Point to one sign to invite its musician to play. Show both signs to combine two gentle sounds while you speak a helper's line. Lower a sign to stop that part. Swap director and performer. Discuss whether quieter playing helped the words remain clear.

You need: The place signs and sound makers

Talk: How can our musicians leave room for the spoken words?
