What's Missing?

A small set of familiar pictures appears for your child to inspect. After a short viewing period, one picture or the whole set is covered. Your child chooses from three pictures to say what is missing or what was there. The answer choices are spoken as well as shown.

How the levels grow

Ages 2–4 see two, three, three, four and four pictures across levels 1–5. The voice names them, and one picture is hidden at every level. Ages 4–6 see three, four, five, five and six pictures. Names are spoken during the first look at levels 1–2; from level 3, the prompt asks the child to look without listing them. At levels 4–5 the whole set is hidden, and the question asks which choice was there. Both bands have three answer choices.

Ages 2–4 play on the Pre-Nursery path and ages 4–6 on the Kindergarten path. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.

What you might notice

Does your child name or point to pictures during the first look?
Do they recognise which choice belonged to the original set?

Try it at home

Put one large soft toy with no loose parts on a low surface. Stay beside your child and cover it briefly with a whole hand towel while they watch. Reveal it straight away together, naming the toy. Keep the cloth away from faces and stop if unwelcome.

Not in this game: The game does not practise remembering an exact picture order or finding real hidden objects.
