Look, Remember and Check

Goal: Notice a few details, remember what was there and check by looking again.

For parents: Keep the collection small. Give your child time to look and name things in any language. Looking again is welcome. There is no score or time limit; remembering one detail together is a useful start.

Do together

  1. Under the cloth

    You need: A cup, spoon, sock and cloth

    Look at three familiar things together. Name them, then cover them. Ask your child to name or describe one. Lift the cloth and check together. Then let your child cover them for you to remember.

  2. Remember the picture

    You need: Paper and crayons

    Draw a cup with a red handle and blue spots. Look together, then turn the paper over. Ask your child to describe one detail while you draw it. Compare the pictures and notice what you both remembered.

  3. Where did it go?

    You need: Two cups and two socks of different colours

    Place one sock beside each cup. Look together, then cover the socks with the cups. Ask where a chosen sock is. Uncover to check. Your child can say its colour or point; keep both cups in place.
