Pencil Path · Matching & connecting

Match Paths

Two columns of cards wait for your child to connect partners. The prompt explains the relationship: perhaps identical pictures, a shape and its outline, or a word and its picture. Your child makes a connection between cards. Activating a card speaks its label, offering another way to inspect the choices.

Every game is free for every family until 20 November 2026. No card, no payment.

What it practises

  • Match pictures and shapes across changed appearances
  • Connect numerals with quantities
  • Match letters and later words with suitable partners

How the levels grow

  1. Seed Level 1
  2. Sprout Level 2
  3. Bloom Level 3
  4. Flourish Level 4
  5. Shine Level 5

Ages 2–4 start with identical pictures, add different sizes at level 2 and outlines at level 3, then letters at level 4. Level 5 includes quantities and things used together. Their sets grow from two to three pairs. Ages 4–6 start with pictures and outlines; level 2 adds letter case and quantity matches, and level 3 adds sound and shape relationships. Levels 4–5 include words, rhymes and further relationships. Older sets request three to five pairs, with smaller sets for some relationships.

Ages 2–4 play on the Pre-Nursery path and ages 4–6 on the Kindergarten path. Good play climbs a level; a hard day holds it, and a level earned is never taken away.

What you might notice

  • Does your child listen to the relationship for this round?
  • Can they explain why two chosen cards belong together?

Try it at home

Draw two simple cups and two simple hats in mixed positions across one large sheet. Invite your child to point between matching pictures or connect them with a crayon. Make one cup bigger and discuss whether it is still a cup.

Not in this game: The game does not assess pencil grip or the straightness of a connecting line.
