Do: Join-in stories. Read the same story every night this week. Pause at the repeated line and let your child say it.

Do: A place for my picture. Invite your child to draw something they enjoyed. Ask whether they would like to add a mark for their name. They may use a familiar letter, a line or another mark. Ask them to tell you about both the picture and their name mark.

Numbers & shapes
Do: Shape hunt. Plates and clocks are circles, windows and doors are rectangles, a slice of pizza or a samosa is a triangle. Hunt for one shape at a time.

Science & our world
Do: Picture choices. Draw a hot cup, scissors, a medicine bottle and a soft toy. Use drawings only, never real hazards as props. Ask which things need an adult. Rehearse stopping, keeping hands away and telling you.

Do: Tidy-up and recycle. One box for paper and one for plastic bottles. After tidying, sort the recycling together and talk about why we don't throw rubbish on the ground.

Moving & making
Do: Our quiet drum. Put the bowl upside down on a steady surface. Tap it softly with open hands, one tap after another. Invite your child to join in. Stop together, then let them start a new beat. Do not use loose fillings or loud banging.
You need: An unbreakable empty bowl with a smooth rim
