Our week: KG 1, week 15
Dates: to · Try one activity on a day that suits you. Repeat or pause any part.
Reading & talking
Do: Hear the end of box. Write box. Say its sounds /b/ /o/ /k/ /s/, then blend them into the word. Point to b, o and x as you explain that the final letter writes the last two sounds together. Try fox with help. Do not call x a single sound here.
You need: Paper and a pencil
Talk: What two sounds can we hear at the end of box?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Letter Pop
Writing & pencil control
Do: Collect two details. Look around where you are sitting. Your child chooses two things to mention, such as a soft mat and a bright cup. Say each phrase together. Draw a quick reminder of each one.
You need: Paper and a pencil
Talk: Which two things would you like to describe?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Trace It
Numbers & shapes
Do: Pouring play. Stay within reach as your child fills and empties cups over the bowl on a stable low surface. Compare full, partly full and empty. Help pour from one cup into another to see which holds more. Wipe spills promptly and empty the water afterwards.
You need: Unbreakable cups, a shallow bowl and a little water
Talk: Is the cup full or empty?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Size Safari
Science & our world
Do: A materials page. Draw two objects and add a material name and one describing word to each, writing for your child as needed. Look at the objects again another day and check the descriptions. Ask whether a new word would make either description clearer.
You need: Paper, crayons and the objects
Talk: What can your eyes and hands tell you about it?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Five Senses
Thinking & feelings
Do: Was that useful? Draw together. Ask what help your child wants with one part, then offer it. Check whether that helped or whether they want something different. Let them say, "Together, please," or point. Thank them for showing you what they needed.
You need: Paper and crayons
Talk: Shall I show you or do it with you?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Feelings Friends
Moving & making
Do: Help the visitor feel welcome. Pretend the visitor feels worried about waiting. Ask what might help, such as explaining whose turn comes next or letting a carer stay beside them. Use your gentle cue to invite the toy forward. Swap roles and let your child show another possible feeling.
You need: The toy, role signs and sound makers
Talk: How can our calling sound stay gentle?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Helper Heroes
A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
