Reading & talking
Do: Poem of the week. Read it together every day. Clap its rhythm, find the rhyming words, and on Friday your child performs it for the family.

Do: Copy a poem. Copy two lines of the poem neatly, then illustrate it. Put it on the wall.

Talk: Which letters have a tail that goes below the line?

Do: Partner test. Take 7 counters and pair them up. Is one left without a partner? Then 7 is odd. Test every number to 12.

Science & our world
Do: Watch a plant change. With an adult, choose a safe plant to observe without tasting or pulling off parts. Draw it every few days and compare what changes. Help water it as appropriate for that plant. Wash hands after handling soil or the pot.
You need: A plant already growing at home, paper and a pencil

Do: Lost and found. Label everything with your child's name. Practise opening their lunch box and bottle on their own.

Moving & making
Do: Fold and join. Make the planned parts. Fold the end of a paper strip to make a tab: a small flap used to join pieces. Hold a tab against a box and secure with tape if available, or tuck the fold under a box. Let your child hold, fold and position while you help with difficult joins.
