Do: Compound word pairs. Join two cards to make a new word: rainbow, sunflower, football, toothbrush. Draw a picture of each.

You need: Cards: rain, bow, drop, sun, flower, foot, ball, tooth, brush

Talk: How many syllables are in 'morning'?

Do: Copy a poem. Copy two lines of the poem neatly, then illustrate it. Put it on the wall.

Numbers to 100: Tens and Ones
Week 2 of about 4

Do: Greater or smaller. Each of you makes a two-digit number from two cards. Whose is bigger? Compare the tens first.

You need: Number cards 0–9

Talk: Which is greater, 38 or 83? How do you know?

Ourselves

Do: Same and different. Compare hand sizes, hair colour, eye colour and height. What is the same about everyone? What is different?

Do: Help ladder. When stuck, first think, then try another way, then ask for help. Practise using it on homework.
