Do: What happened? After a story, ask three questions: Who was in it? What happened? How did it end? Help with the words if needed.

Writing & pencil control
Do: A place for my picture. Invite your child to draw something they enjoyed. Ask whether they would like to add a mark for their name. They may use a familiar letter, a line or another mark. Ask them to tell you about both the picture and their name mark.

Numbers & shapes
Do: Three bears. Act out the three bears story. Give each bear the right-sized bowl, spoon and bed.
You need: Three bowls, three spoons, three cushions of different sizes
Talk: Which is the biggest? Which is the smallest?

Science & our world
Do: Who can I tell? Name or draw two trusted adults your child knows. Pretend your child notices a dropped medicine packet in a drawing. Practise leaving it alone and telling an adult straight away. Explain that they can tell another trusted adult if they are not heard.

Thinking & feelings
Do: My place at the table. Invite your child to put out their cup and spoon. At their usual meal, let them try using the spoon while seated and supervised. Afterwards, help them carry the empty cup to a low, safe place and wipe their space. Adults handle hot food and drinks.
You need: An unbreakable cup, a spoon and a cloth
Talk: What can you say when you need help?

Game (optional): Feelings Friends
Moving & making
Do: Press a cloth corner. Fold the towel into a broad pad with a corner to hold. Help your child dab it lightly in paint and press onto paper. Turn the pad and compare the next mark. Without paint, draw around the folded cloth and colour the outline. Keep the cloth whole.
You need: An old hand towel, paper and optional washable paint or crayons

A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
