Do: I spy with my little ear. 'I spy with my little ear something that starts with sss…' (sock, spoon, sofa). Hold the first sound long so they can hear it.

Writing & pencil control
Do: A place for my picture. Invite your child to draw something they enjoyed. Ask whether they would like to add a mark for their name. They may use a familiar letter, a line or another mark. Ask them to tell you about both the picture and their name mark.

Numbers & shapes
Do: Heavy or light? Hold one in each hand. Which is heavier? Sort into a heavy pile and a light pile.

Science & our world
Do: Who can I tell? Name or draw two trusted adults your child knows. Pretend your child notices a dropped medicine packet in a drawing. Practise leaving it alone and telling an adult straight away. Explain that they can tell another trusted adult if they are not heard.

Do: My care routine. Draw a simple reminder for asking to use the toilet and washing hands afterwards. Talk through your family's routine without asking your child to demonstrate. Give practical help and privacy as needed. Then practise putting a used hand towel in its usual place together.

Moving & making
Do: Slide a straight or curved mark. Hold the paper steady while your child slides the paint-damp cloth a short way. Compare a straight slide with a curved one. Make the same paths with a crayon if preferred. Try one mark at a time and describe how the hand moved.
