Big, Bigger, Biggest

Goal: Order three things by size, and compare using long, short, tall, heavy and light.

For parents: Moving from two things to three is a big step: the middle one is bigger than one and smaller than the other at the same time.

Do together

  1. Three bears

    You need: Three bowls, three spoons, three cushions of different sizes

    Act out the three bears story. Give each bear the right-sized bowl, spoon and bed.

  2. Family line-up

    You need: The family

    Line up from shortest to tallest. Then line up everyone's shoes in the same order.

  3. Heavy or light?

    You need: A potato, a feather or tissue, a book, a leaf

    Hold one in each hand. Which is heavier? Sort into a heavy pile and a light pile.

Talk about it

  • Which is the biggest? Which is the smallest?
  • Who is taller, you or your cousin?
  • Is the book heavy or light?
