Reading & talking
Do: Sound snap. Turn over a letter and a picture at the same time. If the picture starts with that sound, the first to shout 'snap!' wins the pair.
You need: Letter cards and picture cards

Writing & pencil control
Do: Tell me about your drawing. Invite your child to draw a favourite moment, such as Ali on a mat. Ask what they want the picture to say. Write their short caption as they watch. They can add a word or a letter they know. Read it back together, pointing to the words.

Do: Take-away snack. Count them. Eat one. How many are left? Keep going until none are left: 'Zero!'

Do: Leaf rubbing walk. Collect leaves outside. Put paper over a leaf and rub with the side of a crayon. Compare the shapes.
You need: Paper, crayons with the paper peeled off

Thinking & feelings
Do: A page of kind moments. Draw or describe one kind thing someone did today. Ask how it may have felt to give or receive that help. Let your child add a mark or picture. Keep it as a shared memory, without counting kind acts for a prize.

Moving & making
Do: Two tools, two marks. Print with the cup rim and the back of the spoon, or draw around them with adult help. Compare the ring and oval marks. Try pressing lightly and lifting straight up. Choose which tool will make each part of a border.
You need: A large unbreakable cup, a smooth wooden spoon, paper and optional paint or crayons
