Do: Question dice. After reading a page, roll the dice and ask a question starting with that word. Then your child rolls and asks you.

Do: Weekend diary. Every Sunday evening, your child writes three to five sentences about the weekend and draws a picture.

Adding and Subtracting within 100
Week 3 of about 5

Do: Make ten to add. Show 8 + 5: move 2 to fill the ten, 3 left over — 13. This trick works for 38 + 5 as well.

You need: Ten-frames drawn on paper, counters

Do: Sort our results. Draw the objects tested in the previous activity. Put their pictures into attracted and not attracted groups using the recorded results. Explain why guessing from a shiny appearance alone did not tell us the answer.

Moving & making

Create a Small Performance
Week 3 of about 3

Do: Perform and revise. Play the scene once, following the drawings. Ask what made the story clear and choose one change, such as a longer pause before the ending. Try again if your child wishes. Swap directing and performing roles; praise a specific choice rather than comparing performers.
