Reading & talking
Do: Two ways to read ow. Write snow and cow, underlining ow. Read each naturally and explain snow if unfamiliar. Try both readings when needed, then check the meaning. Add grow beside snow. Read this rhyming pair, then contrast cow: the same letters can represent a different vowel sound.

Writing & pencil control
Do: Capital letter check. After writing, your child checks with the coloured pencil: a capital at the start, and capitals for names, places and days of the week.

Do: Word problem stories. Make up problems about your family: 'Ammi bought 25 eggs. We used 6. How many are left?' Draw it, then write the number sentence.

Science & our world
Do: Magnet test. Your child predicts whether each object will be attracted. The adult brings the magnet close while the child observes. Record the actual result; different metal spoons can behave differently. Keep the magnet away from mouths and younger children, and put it securely away immediately afterwards.
You need: A large intact magnet held by an adult, a large metal spoon, a wooden spoon and an unbreakable cup

Thinking & feelings
Do: Make a spoken link. Look at the three objects. Make a playful sentence together that mentions them all. Cover the objects while your child says the sentence or names them. Swap roles. Discuss whether making a sentence helped either of you remember.

Moving & making
Do: Choose a sound and movement. Choose a quiet repeated rhythm for one part, using hand taps on the bowl and pauses. Add a comfortable movement to show an event or feeling. Practise starting and finishing together using a visible hand signal.
You need: Your hands and an unbreakable empty bowl with a smooth rim
