Find a Way to Remember

Goal: Try a spoken or picture reminder, then explain what helped remember a few details.

For parents: This is a shared experiment, not a test of who remembers most. Keep two or three details, offer another look or listen, and let your child choose a reminder. Drawing, pointing and familiar home languages all count.

Do together

  1. Make a spoken link

You need: A cup, spoon and sock

Look at the three objects. Make a playful sentence together that mentions them all. Cover the objects while your child says the sentence or names them. Swap roles. Discuss whether making a sentence helped either of you remember.

  2. A picture reminder

    You need: Paper and crayons

Describe a pretend visitor: Noor has a striped bag and a green hat. Your child draws a quick reminder. Talk about something else briefly, then use the drawing to recall both details. You can repeat the description whenever asked.

  3. Choose your reminder

    You need: Paper and crayons

Together plan a pretend picnic with a mat, mango and water. Your child chooses a spoken link or quick drawing to remember them. Later, recall the three things together and check. Ask what helped and what they would choose next time.

Talk about it

  • Which reminder would you like to try?
  • What did your picture help you remember?
  • Would you use the same idea next time?
