Do: Help a reader choose. Share the review with someone deciding what to read or play at home. Let your child read it aloud with help. Ask what the reader now knows. Explain that the reader may choose differently; the review has still shared a useful view.

Do: Half of a group. Share the eight squares equally between the two sheets. Each equal group is half of the whole set. Count four on each. Repeat with six squares, then use four places to share eight into quarters.

Science & our world
Do: If we get separated. Stay beside your child throughout the pretend game. Practise stopping in a safe public spot, calling for you and asking a nearby shop worker at a counter for help: 'I cannot find my grown-up.' Explain not to wander outside or leave with someone to search. Before outings, point out where staff can help.

Do: Return with help. When your child wants to return, use the marker to find the next part. Finish together, reduce the job or leave it for another day. Discuss whether the marker helped. Keep the aim on finding a next step, not working for longer.

Moving & making
Do: Open a zigzag screen. Keep turning the sheet over and folding the same end back across the remaining paper. Open the folds slightly to form a zigzag. Stand it on a long edge as a low pretend screen. If it falls, adjust the folds together or hold it.
