Our week: Ready for Class 1, week 15
Dates: to · Try one activity on a day that suits you. Repeat or pause any part.
Reading & talking
Do: Question dice. After reading a page, roll the dice and ask a question starting with that word. Then your child rolls and asks you.
You need: A paper cube or dice with a question word on each face
Talk: Where did the story happen?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Listen & Remember
Writing & pencil control
Do: Try our instructions. Follow your child's instructions as written, without pretending to misunderstand clear wording. If a step is missing, ask what would help you. Let them add a word or picture. Read the improved instructions together.
You need: The instructions and socks
Talk: What could we add to make that step clearer?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Story Steps

Numbers & shapes
Do: Take away and check. Start with nine and remove three to find six. Rebuild nine. This time count back three steps, moving one square for each: eight, seven, six. Compare the answers, then put three back with six to check that you return to nine.
You need: Nine large paper squares
Talk: What did you change in your second method?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Add & Take Away
Science & our world
Do: Race day. Time family races: running, hopping, crawling. Which way of moving is fastest? Record the times.
You need: A stopwatch (a phone is fine)
Talk: How can you stop a rolling ball?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Gravity Drop
Thinking & feelings
Do: Ask before repairing. Make a small tower on the floor, then take it down deliberately to rehearse a pretend accident. Offer to rebuild together or leave it for later. Ask which the other person wants. Swap roles and practise listening to the answer.
You need: Three unbreakable cups
Talk: What repair could we offer?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Feelings Friends
Moving & making
Do: Direct two sounds together. Point to one sign to invite its musician to play. Show both signs to combine two gentle sounds while you speak a helper's line. Lower a sign to stop that part. Swap director and performer. Discuss whether quieter playing helped the words remain clear.
You need: The place signs and sound makers
Talk: How can our musicians leave room for the spoken words?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Helper Heroes

A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
