Reading & talking
Do: Two sound pictures. Draw a sun and a pot. Say each word and emphasise its first sound without adding an extra vowel. Ask your child to point to the picture that starts with s or p. They can choose the word for you to draw next. No flames or bought cards are needed.
You need: Paper and a crayon
Talk: Can you find something in the kitchen that starts with p?

Writing & pencil control
Do: A place for my picture. Invite your child to draw something they enjoyed. Ask whether they would like to add a mark for their name. They may use a familiar letter, a line or another mark. Ask them to tell you about both the picture and their name mark.

Numbers & shapes
Do: Draw our cups. Draw three cup outlines. Colour one to the top, leave one empty and colour one part of the way up. Ask your child to match the pictures to full, empty and partly full. They can point, describe or make their own pictures.

Science & our world
Do: Who can I tell? Name or draw two trusted adults your child knows. Pretend your child notices a dropped medicine packet in a drawing. Practise leaving it alone and telling an adult straight away. Explain that they can tell another trusted adult if they are not heard.

Do: Ask for help. Model a short request: 'We both want it. Please help.' Let your child use words or a gesture to bring you into the scene. Offer two practical choices, such as taking turns or finding another cup, and try the one they choose.

Moving & making
Do: Where shall we wait? Put the picture against a wall at floor level. Pretend to wait beside it with your child. Choose where the pretend driver sits and where passengers will sit. Say 'beside' or 'behind' as you arrange yourselves. Your child can direct you while remaining seated.
You need: A large sheet of paper with a simple bus drawn on it

A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
