Writing a Little Story

🏠 Do together

1. Story in three boxes

   You need: Paper folded into three, crayons

   Draw the beginning, middle and end of a made-up story. Then write one sentence under each picture.

2. Story starters

   You need: Nothing

   Start with 'One day, a little cat…' Your child adds the next sentence out loud, then you, then them. Write down the best part together.

3. Word bank

   You need: A card with useful words: then, next, after that, one day, the end

   Keep it next to them while they write. Tick each word they use.

💬 Talk about it

• Who is in your story? Where are they?
• What goes wrong in the middle?
• How does it end?
