Our week: KG 2, week 29
Dates: to · Try one activity on a day that suits you. Repeat or pause any part.
Reading & talking
Do: Bingo. Draw a grid of nine chosen words. Call one word at a time and let your child circle it with a crayon. When three are in a row, read them together. Offer another look and a spoken model whenever needed.
You need: Paper bingo cards with nine tricky words each
Talk: Can you make a sentence with 'you'?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Sight Words
Writing & pencil control
Do: Check who said it. Read the exchange with someone at home, taking one character each. Follow the bubble tails to find each speaker. Ask whether the second line answers the first. Change a word or tail if needed; keep the amount of writing short.
You need: The comic and a pencil
Talk: Does the reply fit the question?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Sight Words
Numbers & shapes
Do: Turn it around. Show the same triangle pointing up, sideways and down. Ask what changed and what stayed the same. Try a tilted square. It is still a square: turning it does not change its sides or corners.
You need: Large paper shapes torn or drawn by an adult
Talk: Is this still a triangle when I turn it?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Shape Detective
Science & our world
Do: Leave a place for feeding. Draw bees visiting flowers. Explain that bees get food from flowers. Ask what would happen if someone picked every flower there. Draw a caring choice: leave flowers growing and watch from a distance. Do not put out food or try to attract bees.
You need: Paper and crayons
Talk: Why could leaving flowers help bees?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Eco Helpers
Thinking & feelings
Do: Choose a useful check. Ask your child to look away while you put the sock under one cup. Let them guess where it is, then choose a cup to lift. Say what you now know from looking. Swap roles; a changed answer shows new information.
You need: Two unbreakable cups and a whole sock
Talk: How could we check that idea?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Focus Farm
Moving & making
Do: A flamingo choice. Offer your hand while your child briefly lightens one foot or lifts it a little, then returns to two steady feet. Seated players can lift and lower one hand instead. Choose a favourite animal shape and describe where the hands are.
You need: A clear space and an adult's offered hand
Talk: Would you like support or a seated version?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Position Quest
A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
