Tricky Words 2

Goal: Read the next tricky words on sight: he, she, we, me, be, was, you, they, all, are, my, her.

For parents: These twelve words make up a huge share of every early reading book. Knowing them lets your child read whole sentences.

Do together

  1. Tricky word pairs

    You need: Two cards for each word

    Play a memory pairs game face down. Read each card aloud when you turn it.

  2. Sentence strips

    You need: Card strips

    Write short sentences using the words: 'She was in the car.' Cut them into words and rebuild the sentence.

  3. Bingo

    You need: Paper bingo cards with nine tricky words each

    Call words; cover them with buttons. First to three in a row reads the row aloud to win.
