Our week: KG 2, week 23
Dates: to · Try one activity on a day that suits you. Repeat or pause any part.
Reading & talking
Do: Rhyme race. Give a word; how many rhyming words (real ones) can your child say in one minute?
You need: A timer
Talk: Which word does not belong: pig, wig, cat?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Rhyme Time
Writing & pencil control
Do: Fact or favourite? Suggest adding "This is the best cup." Discuss why that tells a preference instead of something everyone can check by looking. Reread the two facts beside the cup. Share the page with a reader and adjust anything that does not match.
You need: The page and a pencil
Talk: Could someone prefer a different cup?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Sight Words
Numbers & shapes
Do: Turn it around. Show the same triangle pointing up, sideways and down. Ask what changed and what stayed the same. Try a tilted square. It is still a square: turning it does not change its sides or corners.
You need: Large paper shapes torn or drawn by an adult
Talk: Is this still a triangle when I turn it?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Shape Detective
Science & our world
Do: Find outdoor clues. With an adult, watch leaves or a flag from a safe place without looking at the Sun. Draw whether they move or stay still. Compare this with the paper test. The fan made moving air indoors; outdoors, movement can give us a clue about wind.
You need: Paper and crayons
Talk: What outside could give us a wind clue?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Weather Watch
Thinking & feelings
Do: See it or guess it? Hide the cup under the cloth while your child watches. Say, "I saw a cup. I guess it has a picture underneath." Lift it together to check. Discuss which statement came from looking and which needed more information.
You need: An empty unbreakable cup and a cloth
Talk: What can you see for yourself?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Focus Farm
Moving & making
Do: A bird at rest. Sit or stand steadily. Slowly open your arms a comfortable distance beside your body like a resting bird. Bring them back gently. Name beside. Let your child choose a smaller movement or direct yours; there is no need to hold the shape.
You need: A clear space and optional stable chair
Talk: Are your hands beside your body now?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Position Quest
A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
