Our week: KG 1, week 6
Dates: to · Try one activity on a day that suits you. Repeat or pause any part.
Reading & talking
Do: Sound buttons. Write a word like 'sat' and put a dot under each letter. Your child touches each dot and says the sound, then sweeps a finger under the word and says it fast.
You need: Paper, a pencil
Talk: What sounds can you hear in 'sun'?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Word Builder
Writing & pencil control
Do: A picture with a name. Ask your child to draw a mat, a cup or something they choose. Say its name together and listen for the first sound. Help them write the letter they know beside the picture. Add the whole word yourself if they want to see it.
You need: Paper and a crayon
Talk: What does your picture show?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Trace It
Numbers & shapes
Do: Make the groups match. Tear the squares yourself. Put two on one sheet and four on the other. Count each group together. Ask your child to make the groups equal by moving or removing squares. Repeat with other small totals and ask how they checked.
You need: Up to ten large paper squares and two sheets of paper
Talk: Did spreading the socks out change how many there are?
We noticed:

Science & our world
Do: Our brushing routine. During your child's usual toothbrushing routine, stay with them and help with brushing. Talk about reaching the different tooth surfaces. Follow the guidance your family receives from its dental professional.

Thinking & feelings
Do: A page of kind moments. Draw or describe one kind thing someone did today. Ask how it may have felt to give or receive that help. Let your child add a mark or picture. Keep it as a shared memory, without counting kind acts for a prize.
You need: Paper and a crayon
Talk: What helps you feel calm?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Feelings Friends
Moving & making
Do: Make a place. Let your child make a pretend library, home or invented place. Arrange pieces for a door or window and add broad drawn lines. Ask them to show how two shapes help make the model. They can rearrange loose pieces without glue.
You need: The box, folded paper, large paper pieces and crayons
Talk: What will this part of your model be?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Shape Builder
