Hello, Me!
Goal: Point to and name the main parts of the body, and say what some of them do.
For parents: Toddlers learn body words fastest through songs and touch. Name each part as you wash, dress and dry them — that is most of this unit.
Do together
-
Head, shoulders, knees and toes
You need: NothingSing it slowly and touch each part together. Next time, stop before a word and let your child say it — and touch it.
-
Mirror game
You need: A mirrorSit together in front of a mirror. Ask 'Where is your nose?' and let them point on themselves and in the mirror. Swap: they ask, you point — sometimes wrongly, so they can correct you.
-
Hand and foot prints
You need: Paper, a pencil, washable paint or crayonsDraw around their hand and foot. Count the fingers and toes together, then let them colour them in. Put it on the wall with their name.
Talk about it
- What do we use our eyes for? Our ears? Our hands?
- Can you wiggle your fingers? Stamp your feet? Nod your head?
- Which parts of your body do we wash every day?
