1. Clap your name

   You need: Nothing

   Clap the beats in names: Sa-ra (2), Mu-ham-mad (3), Ali (2 — A-li). Then clap foods: ba-na-na, ap-ple, rice.

2. Rhyme basket

   You need: Pairs of rhyming objects or pictures: cat/hat, pen/hen, bed/red, sock/clock

   Take one out and ask, 'What rhymes with cat?' Let them find its partner. Then add one that does not rhyme and see if they spot it.

3. Silly rhymes

   You need: Nothing

   Make up nonsense rhymes at mealtimes: 'rice, mice, dice, fice!' Nonsense words count — the point is hearing the same ending.
