Reading & talking

Game (optional): Rhyme Time
Writing & pencil control
Do: Choose the useful parts. Look at a bag together. Choose two visible parts, such as a strap and a pocket. Draw the bag with room around it for words. Your child points to each part and says what the reader needs to recognise.
You need: A familiar bag, paper and a pencil
Talk: Which parts will help our reader?
We noticed:

Numbers & shapes
Do: Days of the week song. Sing the days every morning and point to today. What day was yesterday? What day is tomorrow?
You need: A calendar

We noticed:
Game (optional): Clock Steps
Science & our world
Do: A shared space. Draw a pretend park with a wrapper on the path and a plant beside it. Discuss what might help. Explain that an adult handles unknown rubbish, sharp items and dirty waste. Choose a safe job at home, such as putting your own clean scrap paper in its agreed place.
You need: Paper and crayons

Thinking & feelings
Do: A short chance game. Draw a star on one slip and circles on three. Mix them face down. Take two each and open them; whoever finds the star wins this round by chance. Name any feelings without judging them. Both people may choose to stop.
You need: Four folded paper slips and a pencil

Give a spoken warning before the closing sound. Switch musician and shopkeeper roles so each person coordinates with the other's cue.
You need: The pretend shop and instruments
Talk: How do the cup and box sound different?
We noticed:
Game (optional): Five Senses
A possible rhythm: one or two strands a day, on the days that suit you. Swap days freely. Games are optional and never replace the home activity.
