Goal: Use the parts of an information book — contents page, headings, pictures with labels and a glossary — to find facts.
For parents: Many children prefer facts to stories. Information books are real reading too, and they teach skills the Class 1 science book needs.

You need: An information book about animals, space or the bodyLook at the contents page. Pick a topic, find its page number, and turn to it. Read one fact together.

You need: Paper stapled into a small bookChoose a topic your child loves. Make a book with a contents page, three pages of facts with labelled pictures, and a glossary of two words.

Glossary game
You need: The glossary of an information bookRead a word's meaning without saying the word. Your child guesses which word it is.
